Mehndi by Aafrin

Nine years, one pair of hands.

Aafrin didn't inherit this craft — she went chasing it. A single bridal design, glimpsed at a wedding she was only ever meant to attend as a guest, was enough to pull her in: months of practising on her own skin before she trusted her hand on someone else's, and years of quietly turning a fascination into a discipline. What began as an obsession with pattern and paste became the studio in Ahmedabad.

Every batch is still built the same way: leaf powder sifted three times, lemon and sugar, eucalyptus oil, rested overnight. Nothing is bought in, nothing is bulked out, and no cone carries PPD or a "black henna" dye. What you get is a stain that starts orange and deepens to a dark cherry over two days.

Nine years and hundreds of sessions later, that same hand has drawn bridal, Nikah and Walima designs well beyond Ahmedabad — including sessions across the Middle East — and still holds only one bridal booking a day.
